About the role:
As a Horticultural Content Creator, you will be a dedicated, skilled gardener who is also a confident creator across both the written word and video. You will produce two to three written pieces a week and appear on camera, moving fluently between a magazine feature, a web guide and a YouTube script without sacrificing accuracy, depth or craft. Above all, it’s a role for someone for whom gardening is a genuine vocation: not a subject they cover, but something they do.
Responsibilities:
- Written content: Produce two to three pieces of horticultural content per week across print, digital and off-platform channels — practical guides, seasonal advice, plant profiles, how-tos and news-led pieces.
- Video content: Plan, script and present horticultural video for YouTube and social, bringing practical authority and a warm, credible on-camera presence.
- Audio and podcast: Contribute to the Gardeners’ World podcast, particularly future team-based formats.
- Collaboration and planning: Work closely with the editorial team to plan and deliver content against seasonal and strategic priorities.
Requirements:
- Horticultural training to Level 3 or equivalent.
- Extensive practical gardening experience.
- Strong, versatile writing skills.
- Confidence on camera.
- A collaborative team player.
- The ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- An open, enthusiastic approach to new tools and ways of working.
Desirable:
- Experience in an editorial environment.
- Familiarity with SEO and writing for web audiences.
- Experience of video, social or podcast content creation.
- An existing social or YouTube presence with a gardening audience.
Benefits:
- A relaxed working environment with regular socials.
- Supportive well-being initiatives and benefits.
- 25 days holiday plus a day for your birthday.
- Flexible / hybrid working plus early finish Fridays.
- Competitive pension plans and Life Assurance.
