ImmaculateHeart Catholic Primary School a Voluntary Academy of St Gregory the GreatMulti-Academy Trust is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and creative SEND LearningSupport Assistant to work with pupils with complex needs including Autism, ADHDand cognitive processing difficulties. Yourrole will be to support the pupils and to ensure that they access thecurriculum and reach their full potential.This is a varied role that will require flexibility and a positiveattitude. Starting as soon as possible,this is a full-time fixed term role.
This is a fantastic opportunityfor a committed SEND Learning Support Assistant to make a difference to a pupil'sexperience of education.
To beconsidered for SEND Learning Support Assistant position, you will have:
- Asecure understanding of autism that prioritises empathy, neurodiversity-affirmingpractice, and an awareness that behaviour is often a form of communication forunmet needs or underlying anxiety.
- Aworking knowledge and practical understanding of Attention DeficitHyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and how it impacts executive function,engagement, and behaviour in a classroom environment
- Skilledat adapting learning opportunities into low-pressure, flexible activities thatreduce anxiety and encourage active participation from reluctant learners.
- Demonstratesexceptional patience, emotional resilience, and a calm, adaptable approach whennavigating complex behaviours, high anxiety, and task resistance.
- Aproactive approach to facilitating peer interactions and a dedication tomaintaining daily, detailed communication between home and school to monitorongoing learning requirements.
- Understandingof EHCP Implementation: Experience working directly from an EHCP to implementspecific, measurable targets and adapting daily learning to suit a child'simmediate needs.
- Initiative and act accordingly andset high expectations of the pupils you will work with.
