The predicted salary is between 29 - 34 £ per hour.

Operates marine coatings application equipment including Plural and Single Component Airless Paint Pumps. Maintains strict adherence to paint mixing using approved methods only. Participates in the application of coatings using brushes and rollers. Maintains paint pumps in accordance with manufacturers instructions, standard operating procedures, and as directed by Foreman and Superintendents on the job. Performs routine cleaning of the work areas, equipment, and paint storage locations. Must follow directions concerning painting in the marine industry. May be required to perform additional duties as deemed necessary by the supervisor for the completion of the job in a safe and timely manner.

Essential Job Requirements

  • Monitor environmental parameters related to paint storage, paint application, and dry times.
  • Assist in the creation of containment methods to maintain environmental controls.
  • While using brush and roller applicators, make certain surfaces are prepared for coating according to paint manufacturers specifications.
  • Follow only approved methods.
  • Participate in striping of tank surfaces using approved methods.
  • Adhere to OSHA requirements relative to the shipbuilding industry.
  • Must comply with company, federal, state, and local safety and environmental rules and regulations; accurately operate, clean, and maintain all assigned equipment; properly store equipment; dispose of empty paint and solvent cans appropriately; properly store and take appropriate precautions for paint and solvents as directed by supervisor; knowledgeable in checking wet film mil (WFT) thickness being applied; assist sprayers in pulling lines; must be able to correctly, and promptly follow directions.
  • May be required to perform additional duties as deemed necessary by the supervisor for the completion of the job in a safe and timely manner.

Required Education / Experience / Credential

  • C-14 Pump Operator preferred.

  • Must be able to work cooperatively and productively with other employees and shipyard personnel.

Physical Requirements

  • Regularly required to walk; frequently required to stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, balance, or crawl at various heights and in confined spaces; occasionally required to sit; required to reach with hands and arms, use hands to feel, grip, or handle; regularly required to safely lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; required use of vision to see up close, distance, and peripherally, as well as depth perception and ability to adjust focus in low light conditions.
  • May be required to wear a respirator to safely perform assigned tasks.
  • Must be able to follow clean shaven policy.

  • Regularly exposed to extreme temperatures, high noise levels, toxic or caustic chemicals, fumes, airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, dusty conditions, wet and/or humid conditions, hazardous machinery, confined spaces, precarious places, proximity to other employees.
  • To avoid injury, use of personal protective equipment (PPE) required such as safety clothing, safety devices to protect personnel from bodily harm.
  • Overtime or shift work involved most of the time.
