The Opportunity: We are seeking an experienced Machine Shop Team Leader to lead one of our shift teams across both our standard and non-standard machine shop operations. This is a hands-on leadership role where you will be responsible for driving safety, quality, delivery and performance while developing and supporting a highly skilled team. You'll play a key role in ensuring production targets are achieved, continuous improvement initiatives are delivered, and world-class manufacturing standards are maintained.

Shift Pattern: Double Days (2 weeks Early Shift, 2 weeks Late Shift) - this shift pattern is a key requirement of the role.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Lead and develop a high-performing machine shop team to deliver safety, quality, delivery and productivity targets.
  • Coordinate labour, machinery and resources to maximise efficiency and support On Time Delivery (OTD).
  • Drive a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with risk assessments, COSHH and safe working practices.
  • Manage performance, attendance, training and development, building a flexible, multi-skilled workforce.
  • Lead investigations, problem-solving and Root Cause Analysis to resolve operational and quality issues.
  • Drive Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives, including 5S, Kaizen and TPM.
  • Monitor and improve operational KPIs, implementing actions to enhance performance and efficiency.
  • Provide technical machining support and work with Production Engineering to improve processes, tooling and manufacturing methods.
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards, SOPs and best practice across the machine shop.

About You: We’re looking for a confident and capable leader who can inspire teams and deliver results in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You’ll ideally have:

  • Proven leadership experience within a CNC machining or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of machining processes and production operations.
  • Experience leading teams across diverse manufacturing activities.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Strong understanding of Health & Safety requirements within manufacturing.
  • A proactive, hands-on approach and the flexibility to support operational demands.
