IMH Recruitment are seeking an experienced and motivated Kitchen Team Leader for our client based in Preston to oversee the day-to-day catering function within the facility.
The successful candidate will help ensure meals are prepared and served to a high standard, while maintaining excellent food hygiene, cleanliness and health and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day catering operation within the facility.
- Support with menu planning, recipe scheduling and stock management.
- Liaise with the Cost Controller regarding stock ordering and replenishment, ensuring budgets and usage requirements are met.
- Prepare and cook meals, including batch cooking where appropriate, ensuring food is fresh and served at the correct times and temperatures.
- Ensure sufficient hot and cold food is available during meal service.
- Provide guidance, support and direction to Catering Assistants.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and food hygiene throughout the kitchen, dining area and surrounding areas.
- Complete cleaning schedules and daily checks as required.
- Maintain excellent personal hygiene and wear the required uniform and PPE at all times.
- Operate the till system and handle cash and card payments when required, ensuring financial transactions are recorded and stored securely.
- Report accidents and incidents promptly and complete all required documentation.
- Travel to and provide Kitchen Team Leader cover at other catering sites as required.
- Attend relevant internal, external and online training courses..

- Experienced in a catering or kitchen environment.
- Confident leading and supporting a team.
- Organised and able to manage stock and food preparation effectively.
- Knowledgeable about food hygiene and health and safety requirements.
- Reliable, professional and well presented.
- A strong communicator with a positive approach to teamwork.
- Flexible and willing to travel between catering sites when required.
