We’re looking for a freelance Social Media Content Creator to support the NFL Academy’s digital storytelling across Instagram, X and TikTok. You’ll be responsible for capturing content, as well as planning, ideating, and posting on the channels in collaboration with the NFL Academy’s social and marketing team.
This is a support role, ideal for someone with a strong social-first mindset and solid photography/video skills. You’ll help bring the NFL Academy’s story to life — from on-field moments and training clips to athlete features, off-field culture, and everything in between.
Responsibilities
- Attend training sessions, games, and key events to capture authentic, social-first content (photo and video)
- Pitch ideas and collaborate on the content calendar, helping plan engaging content around key dates and moments
- Create and publish platform-native content (Reels, Stories, TikToks etc.)
- Write sharp, brand-aligned captions and assist with scheduling posts
- Spot and react to content opportunities on the fly – from standout plays to behind-the-scenes moments
- Ensure all content aligns with brand guidelines, tone, and safeguarding standards
- Collaborate closely with the NFL Academy’s social media lead and external partners
Knowledge and Experience
- A social native with a keen understanding of what works on Instagram, TikTok, and X
- Comfortable capturing and editing content on the go — whether using mobile, DSLR, or both
- Skilled in producing vertical video and editing for speed, engagement, and platform specificity
- Familiar with editing tools like CapCut, Lightroom, Photoshop, Premiere Pro/Final Cut etc.
- Organised, reliable, and confident working independently during shoots
- Be based in or close to Loughborough and be available on short notice to be reactive to new events
- Experience working in sport, particularly youth or grassroots programmes
- Passionate about sport, youth development, and creating content that tells a story
- Currently studying or a recent graduate of a relevant course/degree from Loughborough College/University
- Knowledge of American football or an interest in learning the culture
Skills and abilities
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to deal effectively with people at all levels and, when necessary, present ideas
- Good editorial judgement, in terms of knowing what digital content is good and why
- Organised and an ability to meet fixed deadlines
- Strong initiative and willingness to be flexible in approach to achieve desired outcomes
- A client-focused mindset
- Ability to learn new skills and share knowledge
- An interest in all forms of digital media
Working Conditions
- Freelance position – paid per day (rate to be agreed)
- Must be available to attend in-person sessions, games, and events in or near Loughborough
- Some evening or weekend work may be required (e.g. match days, special events)
- Content may be required with quick turnaround times, especially for social media publishing
- Will work in close collaboration with the NFL Academy’s social and marketing team, but expected to be proactive and self-sufficient on shoot days
- Must use own equipment (camera/phone/editing tools) — access to tools/software can be discussed if needed
- Travel costs to Loughborough not covered, so proximity is important
- All work must adhere to NFL Academy safeguarding and brand guidelines
