Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- Facilitate the smooth running and high quality of service for all live operations through the technical facilities.
- Own and supervise Live Operations.
- Supervise MCR and transmission operators at the point of presence.
- Serve as day‑to‑day point of reference for the client.
- Ensure correct staffing levels in line with live event needs.
- Work closely with the Lead Engineer to ensure the smooth running of live operations.
- Liaise with the Delivery Operations Supervisor to support clients pre‑, during and post‑events.
- Ensure client operations and technical facilities meet client requirements and expectations.
- Highlight potential issues and offer solutions to deliver required services.
- Keep all interested parties informed of issues and suggest preventive steps.
- Create and distribute incident reports to relevant parties.
- Maintain sufficient knowledge and skill base across the team.
- Document and communicate technical and operational procedures.
- Communicate operational issues clearly.
- Be an approachable technical expert for all aspects of point‑of‑presence operation.
- Recommend operational improvements to the technical workflow.
- Recommend technical strategies for service delivery.
Unusual Challenges or Circumstances
- Will involve weekend work to cover live events.
- Will involve some late nights and possible occasional overnights to cover live events.
- May involve working on bank holidays.
Key Results Areas
- Ensure that service level agreements for Live Operations are met.
- Fully support and inform the Lead Engineer, Account Manager and Directors of Live Operations issues.
- Maintain a productive and successful business relationship with clients and service providers.
- Help develop an efficient workflow with the client.
Knowledge and Experience
- Supervisory broadcast engineering experience with excellent technology knowledge.
- Extensive experience in a live television environment.
- In‑depth knowledge of transmission systems, including SCTE and closed captions.
- Extensive knowledge of video encoding and streaming protocols.
- Knowledge of TV production and post‑production workflows.
- Established commercial relationships with clients and service providers.
- Proven track record of supervision and leadership.
- Keen interest in sport.

- May be required to travel to industry events and work on‑site during events.
- Unsocial hours may be required as dictated by business demands or deadline pressures.
- Adaptation to new systems and technology as required.
