The Senior Network Engineer (NetOps) at Cingularity is a pivotal role demanding technical expertise and innovative thinking. You will design, build, and maintain the complex infrastructure that powers our mission-critical transmission systems. This position bridges traditional networking methodologies and modern NetOps practices. You will own the core networking infrastructure—including a specialised DTM (Dynamic Synchronous Transfer Mode) network—while introducing automation to enhance resilience and performance. Observability tools development is supported by the TOC (Technical Operations Centre) with collaboration across Systems, Broadcast, and Network Engineering teams.
Responsibilities
- Core Routing & Switching: Design and operate distributed systems with advanced understanding of OSPF and BGP.
- Multicast Routing: Maintain a solid understanding of Multicast routing to ensure efficient data delivery across broadcast environments.
- DTM Specialisation: Manage and optimise the DTM network to meet live broadcast demands.
- Global Telemetry: Manage and refine a global telemetry network for consistent data flow and visibility across international transmission points.
- Capacity Planning: Manage network capacity and advise on hardware/bandwidth upgrades aligned with business growth and customer projects.
- Traffic Forwarding: Ensure optimal performance and data integrity for high-availability, scalable systems in live content broadcasting.
- Infrastructure Security: Implement network security best practices for access control and protection across the ecosystem.
- Firmware & Lifecycle Management: Perform regular firmware upgrades, patching, and maintenance across network hardware.
- System Hardening: Apply network-level security hardening to protect mission-critical transmission paths.
- Internal Tooling: Develop and refine monitoring techniques used by the TOC and Event Engineering teams.
- Observability Design: Contribute to modern monitoring and logging systems (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/OpenSearch) and Netbox as a source of truth.
- Automation Development: Implement automation strategies for infrastructure management using Ansible, Python, and shell scripting.
- Methodology Modernisation: Lead the transition from manual workflows to automated NetOps processes to reduce manual intervention and improve efficiency.
- Level 3 Troubleshooting: Monitor performance and act as a level 3 escalation point for complex networking issues.
- Team Guidance: Mentor and collaborate with technology teams on engineering projects and high-level technical issue resolution.
- Training: Assist engineers in learning networking concepts and Cingularity’s network architecture.
- Project Delivery: Lead technical network projects from concept to deployment, meeting schedules and budgets.
Qualifications
- Networking Expertise: Advanced knowledge of TCP/IP, switching and routing protocols (OSPF, BGP).
- Network Security: Experience securing network infrastructure and managing firmware lifecycles.
