The Position
Operative

Job Summary

This job description endeavour to cover the basic responsibilities and accountabilities of the job

role. However it cannot be deemed to be exhaustive and other ad hoc duties (within the capabilities of

the incumbent) may be required.

1- Health and Safety

  • Respects all site safety rules, general and specifics.

  • Actively involved in safety issues on site and undertakes regular safety observations

  • Ensures compliance with Imerys Safety Responsibilities standard & Imerys Serious 7

  • Completes a Take 5 before starting tasks : Does not start a task, or stops on-going tasks if the employee feels that the situation is unsafe. When possible the employee takes the necessary actions to make the task safe

  • Know and understand the risk assessment , Safe Methods of Work, ESP's related to each task.

  • Know and understand site emergency procedure

  • Reporting of Incidents/Accidents promptly and in line with IML Protocols

2- Standard Duties

Liaises with shift supervisor on work schedule and instructions

Inspects and reports any issues on equipment

Operates IBC machines and associated equipment

Operates bagging machine and associated equipment

Operates the wedges for refeed and recycle activities

Operates the polarite plant (when trained)

Does a pre-shift inspection of mobile plant (i.e forklift)

Moves goods and skips by forklift or using other plant equipment (if trained)

Moves finished goods from production lines, placing them in the required area. 

Re-stacks reject pallets and keeps record of recycled quantity, rates, quality

Knows the relevant Internal Product Specification and packaging. 

Understands product quality and customer centricity value

Complies to sampling procedure when taking samples

Tests of periodic samples according to quality control procedures (when trained)

Ensures the production line has all necessary consumables to run (palettes, bags…)

Maintains a clean safe work area with a high standard on housekeeping, cleanliness and tidiness. Out on plant, cleans where necessary and notifies supervisor if cannot be done personally

Maintains a concise log of production completed

Maintains the necessary operational, quality, safety and environmental records

Actively participates in their own training and development, and in the training and development of others

3- Other Duties

Bulk loads tankers (at any of the loading stations)

Breaking-down palleted units for re-stacking , recycling or disposal.

Breaking-down palleted units for further processing or blending via wedges into other storage types.

Replacement of Bag Filters and Cages.

Entry into and subsequent cleaning of Bag Filter Housings.

Unplugged lines when required

Assists maintenance when required
