Hours: Monday–Friday, 37.5 hours

About the role

We are looking for a Mechanical Fitter to join our Ball Clays Engineering team at Heathfield. This is a hands-on role supporting maintenance of fixed plant and processing equipment. You will help maintain plant availability through planned maintenance, breakdown response and improvement activities, working closely with supervisors and the wider maintenance team.

What you’ll be doing

  • Maintenance and fault finding
    • Perform planned and reactive maintenance on fixed plant equipment
    • Diagnose and resolve mechanical faults
    • Support installation and modification of plant
  • Planning and coordination
    • Work with supervisors to plan maintenance and shutdowns
    • Order and manage spare parts
    • Record completed work and support root cause analysis
  • Safety and compliance
    • Follow site procedures and safety rules
    • Maintain clean and safe work areas
    • Support environmental and quality standards

What you’ll bring

Essential:

  • Mechanical fitting experience in an industrial or processing environment
  • NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent apprenticeship)
  • Experience with planned maintenance and breakdown repairs
  • Strong health and safety awareness
  • Full UK driving licence

Desirable:

  • Experience with packaging systems or similar equipment
  • Mobile plant or access licences (e.g. forklift, MEWP)
  • Welding experience
  • Familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP
