We are seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Class 2 HGV Driver to join our team based at Furzebrook.

In this role, you will be responsible for operating a Class 2 LGV rigid tipper vehicle, transporting quarry materials safely and efficiently between the production face, processing plant, storage facilities, and customer delivery locations.

The majority of your work will involve moving material from the quarry to designated tipping bays for processing, with occasional deliveries to dockside and storage facilities at Poole Quay to support shipping operations.

  • What You’ll Be Doing
  • Safety First: Carry out all duties with health and safety as the highest priority, ensuring compliance with company policies, site rules, and safe systems of work at all times.
  • Operate a Class 2 LGV rigid tipper vehicle from the Furzebrook operating centre, transporting materials safely and efficiently between the quarry, processing plant, designated storage areas, and customer delivery locations.
  • Conduct comprehensive pre-use vehicle inspections at the start of every shift, identifying and reporting any defects immediately and taking appropriate action to ensure the vehicle remains safe and roadworthy.
  • Transport pit grades from the quarry to the processing site, tipping material into designated bays for processing.

When required, transport material directly from the quarry to dockside facilities or covered storage at Poole Quay to support shipping operations.

  • Ensure full compliance with all Road Transport Regulations, including Drivers’ Hours, Working Time Directive requirements, and Tachograph regulations, maintaining minimal infringements.
  • Download and submit Digital Tachograph Driver Card data on a weekly basis in line with company requirements.
  • Attend and maintain Driver CPC training, ensuring the required 35 hours of periodic training is completed within each five-year cycle and keeping all qualifications up to date.
  • Maintain the vehicle to a high standard by regularly cleaning external areas, the tipper body, and removing any retained material where necessary.
  • Keep the vehicle cab clean, tidy, and presentable at all times.
  • Take responsibility for ensuring the vehicle is in a fit, safe, and roadworthy condition before and during operation.
  • Adhere to all company procedures, site rules, speed limits, and prevailing road or site conditions, operating the vehicle in a safe and professional manner.
  • Report any changes to driving licence status, endorsements, or other relevant driving-related information promptly.
  • Accurately complete all required documentation, vehicle records, and compliance paperwork as required.
  • Represent the company professionally when interacting with customers, site personnel, contractors, and members of the public.
  • Valid Class 2 HGV (Category C) Driving Licence.
  • Valid Driver CPC Qualification Card.
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Math.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Minimum of 1 year experience driving HGV Class 2 vehicles.
  • Strong understanding of Drivers’ Hours Regulations, Tachographs, and the Working Time Directive.
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of health and safety.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work independently.

Desirable Experience

  • Previous tipper vehicle driving experience.
  • Experience working within a quarrying, aggregates, mining, or construction environment.
  • Knowledge of quarry safety procedures and site operations.

  • Salary: £33,485.66 plus £1800 Greasing allowance
  • Hours: 47.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday - Day working hours 10.25-hour shift with a 45-minute break.
