Overview
Position: Locum Mortuary Technician / Anatomical Pathology Technician
Location: Surrey
Contract Type: Locum
Hours / Shift Pattern: Full time, Part Time, Weekends
Start Date: ASAP
Duration: 3 months (with possibility to extend)
Pay Rate: £25.00-£35.00
Responsibilities
- Receive, register, store, and maintain the deceased within the mortuary in accordance with trust protocols and legal requirements
- Assist pathologists in post-mortem examinations (e.g. organ handling, sampling, specimen handling)
- Perform body checks, identification, external examinations, and assist in internal examinations
- Prepare the body for release (e.g. cleaning, dressing, restoration) and liaise with funeral directors
- Maintain accurate records and logs (paper & electronic)
- Liaise with Coroner\\\’s officers, police, clinicians, and bereaved families as required
- Adhere to infection control, health, safety & biosafety protocols
- Maintain mortuary environment (cleaning, refrigeration, instrument sterilisation)
- Participate in on-call rotation or out-of-hours duties if needed
