At IMC Construction, our Assistant Project Managers play a key role in keeping projects organized and moving forward. You’ll work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, and field teams to support all phases of a project, from preconstruction through closeout. This is a great opportunity for someone who has a solid foundation in construction and is ready to take the next step in their career by getting more exposure to project management, cost control, and client interaction.

What You’ll Do

  • Support Project Execution: Assist in managing projects from post-bid through closeout, helping ensure alignment between scope, schedule, budget, and client expectations. Support the project team in driving coordination across internal teams and trade partners.
  • Assist with Preconstruction & Buyout: Work with Estimating and Project Management to support bid packaging, scope review, and the buyout process. Help ensure subcontractor scopes are complete and coordinated to avoid gaps or overlaps.
  • Support Financial Management: Assist in developing and tracking project budgets, monitoring cost performance, and supporting change management efforts. Help review subcontractor invoices and contribute to the preparation of owner pay applications.
  • Support Schedule & Coordination: Assist in maintaining the project schedule in collaboration with the Superintendent and Project Manager. Help coordinate materials, trades, and project logistics to keep work progressing as planned.
  • Build Strong Relationships: Maintain positive working relationships with clients, design teams, subcontractors, and internal team members. Communicate clearly and professionally in both written and verbal interactions.
  • Support Safety Efforts: Work with field leadership and Safety to uphold IMC’s “Safety First” culture. Support the implementation and consistent execution of project-specific safety plans to promote a safe jobsite.
  • Contribute to Team Success: Support team in day-to-day project activities. Take initiative, stay organized, and contribute to a collaborative, high-performing team environment.

Skills & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 3+ years of experience in commercial construction
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and contract documents
  • Experience supporting RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project documentation
  • Familiarity with construction management software (Procore, Primavera/P6, TimberScan, etc.)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Clear communication skills
  • OSHA 30 certification preferred
  • LEED experience is a plus
