Working in the GPU Datapath team, you will help design and develop innovative mathematical components for Imagination's XE series of GPUs and other products. No prior digital hardware experience is required; full training will be provided.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with a team of mathematicians and engineers to design optimal arithmetic hardware components.
  • Contribute to the development of cutting‑edge GPU products.
  • Extract and clarify requirements for arithmetic hardware blocks in partnership with engineers across Imagination.
  • Design and evaluate hardware architectures for implementing math‑intensive blocks.
  • Research new techniques for implementing a wide range of mathematical operations in silicon.
  • Produce patentable work within a research‑and‑invention focused environment.
  • Plan and schedule your own work while educating other company members on datapath designs.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Programming experience, especially with SystemVerilog, VHDL, C(++), Python, Tcl or shell.
  • Strong communication skills: the ability to convey complex technical information clearly, both verbally and in writing.
  • Critical thinking: ability to think both abstractly and concretely.
  • Tenacity and teamwork to get things done.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Knowledge of CPU, DSP, or FPU architectures and debugging/testing strategies.
  • Hands‑on experience with ASIC, FPGA, and physical design tools (P&R).
  • Experience with computer‑assisted proof via industry tools or automated theorem provers.
  • Experience with scientific computing and numerical libraries.
  • Knowledge of floating‑point arithmetic and its implementation.
  • Experience optimizing arithmetic hardware.
  • Experience in GPU/CPU design and associated methodologies such as UVM.
  • Strong written and spoken English communication skills.
  • Experience writing rigorous mathematical proofs.
