Imaginate is seeking a pro‑active and reliable Personal Assistant (PA) to drive and support a disabled Production and Technical Theatre employee during rehearsals and production activity, for four weeks within the time of March to May 2026 for the Edinburgh International Children’s Festival. This role focuses on providing practical, on-the-ground support that enables the employee to complete their duties fully. This includes transport (driving), practical assistance in rehearsal spaces, and general logistical support as required. It does not involve personal care.
Contract: 4 weeks across March and May
Fee: £550 per week (total fee £2,200) based on a freelance contract, plus agreed expenses
Hours: Up to 128 hours across the contract, typically 32 hours a week
Location: Driving from Girvan to Edinburgh, Cumbernauld and/or Glasgow
Dates: 16 March – 5 June 2026
- w/b 16 March – 4 days in Edinburgh
- w/b 11 May – 4 days in Cumbernauld/Glasgow
- w/b 18 May – 4 days in Edinburgh
- w/b 25 May – 4 days in Edinburgh
- w/b 1 June– 1 additional day in Edinburgh, date tbc
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Driving the employee from Girvan to rehearsal venues in Edinburgh, Cumbernauld and/or Glasgow.
- Supporting the employee within rehearsal and technical spaces, such as:
- assisting with lifting and carrying equipment
- navigating venues and supporting wheelchair use
- collecting or delivering items
- completing general errands
Person Specifications:
We welcome applications from individuals who are:
- Experienced in supporting someone with a physical disability
- Comfortable driving, hold a clean, valid driving licence and have access to a car
- Based in or near Girvan
- Reliable and punctual
- Comfortable working in creative rehearsal environments
Even if you do not meet all these criteria, we encourage you to apply. Working hours will vary during the day but typically follow an 8am–6pm day (this includes the driving to the venue and return to home). You will not be working continuously throughout this timeframe; support is required as needed, not exceeding 8 hours a day.
