We are looking for a Team Leader/Support Worker to assist Rosie – an adult with seizures, learning difficulties, an ABI and a visual impairment – in her own home. The role combines leadership duties, managing a 24/7 support team and providing one‑to‑one care to help Rosie live as independently as possible.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of 1:1 support workers, creating and maintaining rotas, cover arrangements, inductions, appraisals and training needs.
- Ensure high‑quality, safe and effective care, including supervision for Rosie’s epilepsy.
- Support Rosie with daily life‑skills such as domestic chores, personal care, fitness activities and participation in the City Farm.
- Work co‑operatively with the Case Manager to enrich Rosie’s learning, care and independence in the home and community.
- Provide on‑call duties and support Rosie on holiday when required.
- Maintain accurate written records of care, including written care plans and incident reports.
Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in caring for adults with disabilities.
- Experience with epilepsy and adults with learning difficulties or ABI.
- Strong organisational and time‑management skills.
- Excellent communication, empathy, patience, tact, warmth and compassion.
- Proficiency in using I.T. and maintaining confidentiality.
- Excellent observational and planning abilities.
- Flexibility to work short‑notice hours, weekends and on‑call periods.
- Full driving licence required and availability of a car for work purposes.
- Non‑smoker – the post is in a non‑smoking environment.
Benefits & Conditions
- Pay: £18.48‑£19.63 per hour (dependent on experience); sleeping nights paid at National Living Wage plus £1 per hour.
- Hours: 118 per 4‑week period (30 hours of Team Leader duties and up to 88 hours as support worker, including weekends).
- 5.6 weeks annual leave pro‑rata.
- Pension provision (subject to qualifying status).
- Sick leave entitlement.
- Free DBS check and ongoing training & support.
- Induction, regular clinical supervision and review meetings, and support from a dedicated Case Manager.
