Industrial Designer – Consumer Products | Confidential Client | UK

Location: Bishops Stortford Area

Employment: Full‑time, permanent

About the Opportunity

I’m partnering with a highly respected global manufacturer that is expanding its UK design function. They are seeking a talented Industrial Designer to join their collaborative studio and contribute to the creation of innovative, visually striking consumer products.

This role offers the chance to work across the full design lifecycle — from early ideation and sketch development through to prototyping, refinement and final production. You’ll collaborate closely with design, R&D, product development and international manufacturing teams, shaping products that reach a global audience.

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll play a key role in concept generation, design development and delivery, including:

• Identifying new product opportunities and monitoring competitor activity
• Producing sketches, concepts and design proposals
• Applying human‑centred design principles and creative problem‑solving
• Iterating designs through modelling, prototyping and hands‑on testing
• Using CAD and visualisation tools to produce detailed specifications
• Collaborating with UK and overseas teams, including manufacturing partners
• Researching materials, processes and user requirements
• Supporting design for manufacture (DFM) and product refinement
• Presenting concepts to senior stakeholders
• Occasional International travel to support development stages

What We’re Looking For

• A degree in Industrial Design or Product Design
• 5+ years’ experience in a similar role
• A portfolio demonstrating innovative, user‑focused product design
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and materials
• Excellent CAD skills and rendering experience (e.g., KeyShot)
• A blend of creative flair and technical capability
• Hands‑on prototyping experience (3D printing, workshop tools, model‑making)
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Strong communication and presentation skills
