As we expand the BioInsight business, we are seeking a Director, Business Development to build strategic partnerships that accelerate genomics driven drug discovery, precision medicine and AI enabled healthcare innovation. Working at the intersection of genomics, multiomics, data and AI, you will identify, structure and execute partnerships that enable the development of world-class genomic and clinical datasets while creating long-term value for customers, partners and patients. This is a highly visible role with significant global impact, partnering closely with BioInsight leadership and cross-functional teams across R&D, Product, Commercial, Legal and Finance.
What you will do
- Develop and execute the global business development and partnership strategy for BioInsight, leading across EMEA and supporting across other regions.
- Build and expand senior relationships with pharmaceutical, biotechnology, healthcare and research organisations to drive deal pipeline activity.
- Originate, structure, negotiate and close strategic partnerships across target discovery, clinical and population genomics, data licensing, software, bioinformatics, AI and multiomics applications.
- Lead the full partnership lifecycle from opportunity identification and term sheet development through contract execution, close and ongoing partnership management.
- Partner closely with Illumina’s experimental, computational and AI and machine learning scientists to translate scientific innovation into commercial opportunities.
- Help shape the strategic roadmap for BioInsight genomics, data and target discovery capabilities.
What you will bring
- Significant experience in business development, strategic partnerships, licensing and/or alliance management within life sciences, biotechnology, genomics or healthcare.
- A proven track record of originating, structuring and closing strategic partnerships with pharmaceutical and biotechnology organisations.
- Established senior relationships that can support and accelerate deal pipeline activity.
- Scientific fluency across the drug discovery continuum, with a strong understanding of genomics, human genetics, precision medicine, data partnerships and AI enabled healthcare solutions.
- The commercial acumen to translate complex scientific innovation into partnerships that create durable value for all parties.
- The ability to influence senior stakeholders and operate effectively across global, matrixed organisations.

The estimated base salary range for the Director of Business Development, BioInsight role based in United Kingdom is GBP 121,300 - 181,900. The range reflects long-term growth in the role; therefore, most candidates are hired between the minimum and middle of the range. Placement depends on experience, skills, location, and internal equity. This salary range applies to the primary posting location listed above. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable base pay range will be updated accordingly. Compensation ranges for other locations will differ to reflect local market competitiveness and will be shared with candidates if applicable during the recruitment process.
