Network Engineer (NOC Operations)
We’re supporting a major national infrastructure programme and looking for a Network Engineer to join a busy operations centre. You’ll be part of the team responsible for monitoring and maintaining a large multi‑vendor network that underpins critical national services. This is an operational role focused on stability, incident response and fault management.
What you’ll be doing
- Working within a 24/7 network operations environment, handling live network incidents
- Monitoring Cisco network infrastructure and responding to alarms
- Troubleshooting routing and switching issues across large multi‑site environments
- Using monitoring tools (SolarWinds ideal) to identify and triage faults
- Managing firewall‑related alerts (Fortinet exposure a bonus)
- Liaising with internal engineering teams and OEMs for escalations
- Updating tickets, documenting actions, and ensuring clear communication throughout incidents
What you’ll bring
- Strong Cisco networking experience (routing, switching, basic fault isolation)
- Background in a NOC or operational network support role
- Confidence working across multi‑vendor environments
- Clear, concise communication and good documentation habits
- Active SC clearance or eligible for immediate transfer
- 5‑week repeating pattern including evenings, nights and weekends
- Standard weekday hours until the shift system goes live
- Competitive day rate based on experience
If you’re an operationally minded Network Engineer who enjoys hands‑on fault resolution and wants to support a high‑impact national programme, we’d like to hear from you.
