We’re working with a UK-based, product-led software company building a platform used by thousands of real users to solve a genuinely complex problem space.
This is a midweight frontend role for someone who enjoys owning features end-to-end, thinking deeply about user experience, and working closely with backend and product peers in a low-ego, high-autonomy environment.
This is not a “pixel-pushing” role — frontend engineers here play a meaningful part in shaping the product.
The Role
You’ll be joining a small, experienced engineering team and working primarily on the frontend layer of a modern web application.
Day to day, you’ll:
- Build and evolve user-facing features using React and TypeScript
- Work closely with backend engineers to shape clean, practical APIs
- Translate complex workflows into clear, intuitive user experiences
- Take ownership of features from idea through to production
- Contribute to technical discussions, code reviews, and product decisions
You’ll be trusted to manage your own work, ask the right questions, and make sensible trade-offs.
What They’re Looking For
This role suits someone who is solid in fundamentals and keen to keep improving.
Core experience:
- Commercial experience building applications with React
- Strong working knowledge of TypeScript
- Confidence working with APIs and real-world data
- Good understanding of component design, state, and side-effects
- Comfortable reasoning about trade-offs rather than chasing “perfect” solutions
Equally important:
- Clear communication and low-ego collaboration
- An ownership mindset — you care about outcomes, not just tasks
- Curiosity about users and how the product is actually used
- Comfort working with ambiguity in a fast-moving product environment
Nice to Have (Not Required)
- Experience in product-led or SaaS environments
- Exposure to performance, accessibility, or frontend testing
- Working closely with design or product teams
- An interest in improving developer experience and code quality over time
Working Style & Culture
This team operates with:
- High autonomy, low process
- Trust over micromanagement
- Direct, respectful communication
- A strong preference for thoughtful engineers who explain why, not just how
You won’t be handed step-by-step instructions — but you’ll always have support when you need it.
Location & Package
- £40,000 – £60,000 base salary (depending on experience)
- Midlands, Hybrid (one day in the office a week)
- Small team, real impact, and room to grow with the product
Who This Role Is Ideal For
- A mid-level frontend engineer ready for more ownership
- Someone who enjoys product thinking, not just implementation
- Engineers who want to work closely with strong peers and learn fast
- Developers who value autonomy, clarity, and low-ego teams
