Cable Recovery Technician β Coax Decommissioning (Telecoms)

Location: London (SE)
Contract: Outside IR35 | Β£275 per day
Weβre supporting a major decommissioning programme within a legacy network and are seeking experienced Cable Recovery Technicians to assist with coaxial cable removal across headend and switch room environments.
Youβll be working hands-on to safely remove legacy coax cabling, often from elevated positions, as well as performing basic signal testing to confirm circuit disconnection.
Key Responsibilities:
- Recover and remove coaxial cabling from overhead trays and switch room infrastructure
- Conduct signal testing to validate safe disconnection
- Work safely at height using ladders or platforms
- Label and document recovered cables/hardware as per process
- Liaise with engineering leads to support efficient decommission workflow
Experience Required:
- Telecoms engineering
- Strong understanding of headend or exchange environments
- Comfortable with manual cable handling, working at height, and using cable cutters
- Exposure to access network technologies and infrastructure
- Familiarity with legacy transmission tech (SDH/PDH) and hardware from Nokia, Marconi, etc.
