Key responsibilities:
- Performing laboratory tests to produce R&D data to support new product development
- Maintain awareness of R&D opportunities related to their field, including but not limited to keeping up to date with industry standards and technologies, and looking for improvements and researching new materials
- Preparing specimens and samples; assembling, maintaining and operating standard laboratory equipment
- Recording and interpreting results to present to senior colleagues when required and ensure appropriate actions are taken
- Good understanding of Microsoft platforms, and able to perform mathematical calculations
- Prepare test samples for external testing and test R&D materials
- Produce lab trial mixes
- Provide cover to the QC laboratory
- Write and maintain risk assessments
- Write and maintain SOPs
- Maintenance of project tracking systems
Requirements:
- Good knowledge of asphalt materials
- Good knowledge of bitumen technology
- Good knowledge of polymer technology
- Good practical knowledge of Asphalt and hot melt roofing applications
- Excellent communication skills both written and oral
- Self-motivated
- Ability to problem solve
- Excellent mathematical skills and understanding
- Good attention to detail
- Ability to work on own initiative as well as part of a team
- Excellent report writing skills
- Excellent organisation skills
- Good knowledge of IT software, specifically Microsoft packages
- Ability to organise working days in a logical manner
