The Quality Control (QC) Technician supports the company's Quality Management System (QMS) by ensuring compliance with quality standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements, while maintaining the integrity and quality of finished products.

Responsibilities include maintaining quality records, supporting QA audits, investigating quality complaints, conducting root cause analyses and implementing corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).

The role also contributes to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing product quality and manufacturing performance.

The successful candidate will comply with all Health & Safety policies, procedures, and legal requirements, and will adhere to company processes for recording and protecting intellectual property and research outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of QC laboratory tests, instrumentation, and systems.
  • Prepare, review, and interpret QC documentation, including SOPs and test methods.
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards, laboratory procedures, and H&S requirements.
  • Assist the QC and R&D manager with R&D projects from concept through implementation.
  • Perform peer review of QA/QC records, reports, and finished product release documentation.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain laboratory instrumentation and equipment.
  • Support and maintain compliance with the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System.
  • Conduct laboratory testing of manufactured and purchased products/materials in accordance with quality plans and schedules.
  • Assist in the investigation and resolution of customer complaints.
  • Maintain accurate laboratory records in line with operational and quality requirements.
  • Assist the QC and R&D manager with monitoring production trials.
  • Help identify improvements to existing products and processes.
  • Assist with testing to evaluate and approve new products introduced into the business.
  • Record, analyse, and interpret technical and laboratory data.
  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of product specifications and technical documentation.
  • Prepare reports, presenting findings and recommendations to management.
  • Maintain CE marking test requirements and related documentation.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment calibration and servicing schedules.

Skills / Qualifications

  • BSc or Diploma in a science related field of study, ideally polymer sciences
  • Experience with ISO9001:2015 (desirable)
  • Understanding of quality control testing in a laboratory environmentand industry standards (BS EN 13956:2012, BS EN 14909:2012 and BS EN 14967:2006 desirable)
  • Knowledge of analytical techniques, ideally in the areas of polymer analysis.
  • Experience of investigational tools, root cause analysis, fact gathering etc
  • A methodical approach to the job
  • Experience in laboratory procedures and testing regimes
  • Understanding of quality demands
  • Able to write clear precise scientific reports
  • Good teamwork skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communications and attention to detail
  • Strong organisational skills are essential
  • Internal Auditor (desirable)
  • Understanding of PVC products and uses (desirable)
  • Support the management of external standards, audits, and certifications.
  • Participate as a member of the ISO audit team.
