We are seeking to recruit a Maintenance Engineer to work as part of a rotating 3 shift, dynamic team in a fast paced challenging environment. To ensure the smooth running and maintenance of an extensive Poly-Isocyanate extrusion line and all on-site facilities. Ability to investigate and resolve equipment failures within a timely manner while communicating effectively with line managers and other departments. To pro-actively look at new ways of working, new system upgrades and new equipment, all to meet the changing technological challenges to improve equipment reliability, performance and quality.

Post: Full time and permanent

Hours: 40 hours per week

Probationary period: 6 months

Knowledge, skills and experience:

  • Recognised Electrical Apprenticeship to minimum of NVQ level 3 or equivalent.
  • ONC/NVQ or equivalent in Electrical Engineering.
  • Post apprenticeship work experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience of fault finding and diagnostics.
  • Experience of pneumatics, hydraulics and process control systems.
  • Relevant H & S awareness/training.
  • 17th edition would be preferred but not essential.

Key responsibilities:

  • Repairing and maintaining site equipment and machinery.
  • Taking personal accountability for providing a responsive and effective service.
  • Respond to breakdowns, systematically fault find, and identify root cause and then implement solutions to prevent recurrence.
  • Work with production, support groups and suppliers to implement improvement opportunities to increase equipment efficiency and safety as well as reducing engineering downtime.
  • Identify and implement improvements to equipment to increase process robustness and reliability.
  • Make recommendations and advise when appropriate on maintenance methods and decisions on various equipment.
  • Work with Production to introduce site wide TPM system.
  • Maintain documented evidence of departmental workload to meet operational, regulatory and quality requirements.
  • Taking personal accountability for providing a responsive and effective service to the customer including out of hours working when required.
  • Co-ordinate engineering activities with Production or any other department.
  • To ensure Key Performance Indicators are maintained to high standards.
  • Ensure mechanical and electrical projects and improvements are implemented.
  • Ensure that effective implementation of the company Health & Safety policy is maintained and that all legislation pertaining to safety, COSHH, SHE and environmental Policies and regulations are complied with.
