Responsibilities:

  • Exceptional attendance including working every day, on time, as scheduled.
  • Strong desire to work safely and help others also work safely.
  • Take primary responsibility for their own safety.
  • Follows all policies and procedures.
  • Understands safety is a condition of employment.
  • Identifies poor performing bushings and positions.
  • Troubleshoots and implements corrective action.
  • Controls bushing melt rates using statistical process control techniques.
  • Ensures bushing temperature profiles are maintained for optimal efficiency.
  • Starts-up bushings as required.
  • Monitors, adjusts, and repairs bushing, forming process, and chopper operations including cooling air, cooling fins, leads, flex connections, prepad sprays, applicator speeds, chopper variables, etc.
  • Ensures efficient forming performance and chopper operation.
  • Troubleshoots and implements corrective actions.
  • Performs routine chopper cutterhead and cot changes as well as other chopper adjustments and maintenance.
  • Monitors and controls product cut quality.
  • Take appropriate corrective action when needed.
  • Assists fiber formers to ensure optimum bushing and process performance.
  • Responds to and services fiber formers’ requests.
  • Maintains forming process alignment to written specifications.
  • Completes all required logs and audit sheets.
  • All duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Prior glass operations experience beneficial but not required.
  • Three or more years of manufacturing experience.
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Ability to provide simple and accurate instructions.
  • Ability to work at times in a high temperature environment.
  • Frequent lifting or moving materials up to 10 lbs.
  • Required to work 12‑hour rotating shift schedule including working days and nights and rotating frequently.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend, climb, reach, and grasp.
  • Ability to climb stairs, ladders and work from heights.
  • Ability to perform work by reaching overhead for long periods of time.
