Warehouse Assistant – Dayshift & Nightshift

IKEA Gateshead are looking to welcome a Warehouse Assistant to join our hard-working fulfilment team. Ready to make a difference? We’re looking for motivated individuals to join our fast-paced warehouse team. Whether you’ve got MHE experience or just the drive to learn, you’ll play a key role in keeping operations running smoothly—handling goods, working safely around machinery, and keeping things organised with precision and care.

What we offer

  • Start Date of employment will be 22nd & 23rd November.
  • Competitive hourly rate of £12.60 per hour.
  • Additional nightshift allowance equivalent to £2.25 per hour from 22:00 to 06:00.
  • Additional forklift allowance equivalent to £1.50 for candidates working between 22:00 and 10:00.
  • Nightshift 20, 24 and 30 Hours, working 4/5 days per week from 22:00 to 10:00. Weekend working including 3 out of 4 weekends per month.
  • Dayshift 16, 20, 24 and 30 Hours, working 4/5 days per week between 06:00 and 22:00 (early mornings, days and evenings shifts). Weekend working including 3 out of 4 weekends per month.

What you’ll need to have

  • Previous warehouse and material handling equipment experience is beneficial but not essential; enthusiasm to thrive in an active workplace.
  • Ability to prioritise and organise your workload swiftly and with attention to detail.
  • Experience in utilising technical equipment to enhance productivity and efficiency.
  • Ability to initiate tasks on your own initiative and participate productively in group efforts.
  • Compliance with health and safety guidelines; applicants must be 18 years of age or older.

What you’ll be doing day to day

  • Receiving goods with accuracy, picking and packing orders, and keeping accurate records of stock levels in both our in-store and external warehouse.
  • Manual handling of heavy stock.
  • Working with or around heavy machinery, such as forklift trucks and related equipment, to safely transport heavy goods within the warehouse.
  • Ensuring all safety protocols and regulations are followed for a secure environment for customers and co-workers.
  • Working in a customer-facing environment, delivering great customer service.
