IKEA Milton Keynes are looking to welcome a Carpenter to the team. A Carpenter transforms raw wood into the backbone of the showroom, building walls, platforms, and raised floors, and cutting and shaping materials like MDF, plywood, and panels to bring each space to life.

WHAT WE OFFER

The Start Date of employment will be: July. Starting salary of 29,577 per annum, based on competence and experience, which we can discuss at interview. Based on your skills and experiences, 39 hours a week, working Monday to Friday. Ordinarily, shifts will start at 06:30am in the morning until 15:00pm - this is to allow you to complete tasks on the shop floor prior to customers coming in. Great if you are an early riser! WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO HAVE

Qualification in Carpentry NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Wood Occupations/Site Carpentry is essential, or an equivalent qualification (such as an HND or NVQ in Carpentry). Previous carpentry experience gained in a commercial or retail environment, ideally retail fit-out or from exhibition installations, with good attention to detail. Experience in tiling and flooring is desirable however not essential. You are excited about home furnishings, design and how people live, and have the ability to generate new ideas to inspire our customers. Proven ability to prioritise and organise your workload in order to make the most efficient use of available time and meet agreed goals and deadlines. Clear communication with the ability to explain concepts verbally and with visual interpretation. Due to Health and Safety, you must be 18 years old or over for this role.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY

Following work briefs agreed with colleagues to implement all store media, such as wall constructions, podiums, fixtures, floor laying, painting and the building of complex furniture installations. Planning and ordering materials and resources, ensuring accurate costs are sought and agreed in order to maximise efficiency and minimise costs. Working with your colleagues to make sure the store is always in excellent shape to inspire our customers. Focus on key tasks to meet the needs and expectations of store visitors and minimise disruption when working on the shop floor. Be conscious of the importance of safety at all times while working on the shop floor and take fast action when safety is compromised.
