Job Overview

Mitie is looking for a Retail Security Officer for the prestigious IKEA in Wembley and London area, who can deliver exceptional customer service whilst creating a safe and secure shopping environment for all. A full background check will be completed, including a full 5‑year employment/education history. Ideally you will already hold an SIA licence.

Main Duties

Operations

To deliver industry‑leading customer service and maintain a uniformed presence to deter criminal activity. Work with the on‑site risk and compliance team to detect criminal activity, remove ASB, and carry out control room duties as required. Liaise with the on‑site Risk Management Team, contribute towards creating a risk‑aware culture by actioning incident reports, dealing with customer enquiries, and working with local authorities. The ideal candidate will have experience working within a fast‑paced environment and in loss prevention and security. Previous experience with NVR CCTV, fire, intruder, access control, and BMS systems is desirable. Knowledge of ASCONE, PACE, and safe working practices is also desirable. To be compliant, you must obtain a front‑line licence in either Security Guarding or Door Supervision, which must be worn at all times while carrying out your duties. The Customer also requires a CCTV PSS SIA Licence. Additional contractually required courses are also needed. Comply with legal obligations and safety requirements of the role. Follow instructions and procedures appropriately without unnecessarily challenging authority. Work in a systematic, methodological, and orderly way.

Training

Fully and satisfactorily complete all required competency training. Undertake additional training to ensure continuous self‑development as directed by the Security Account Manager. Use technology to achieve key work objectives and develop job knowledge and expertise through continual professional development. Renew your licence 16 weeks before expiry.

Security and Health & Safetyh>

Look out for and immediately report any Health & Safety hazards or potential hazards on site. Stay alert to any threats or changes within the work environment to take the appropriate action to reduce the chance of disruption, loss or damage. Use common sense and initiative by immediately involving others if a situation appears threatening. Maintain professional conduct in the face of difficult situations and challenging customers. Complete a detailed notebook entry as soon as possible after any incident, which can then be used as part of the Incident Report process. Keep to schedules and demonstrate commitment to Mitie and the Client. Ensure check calls are carried out at the allocated time slots as stipulated in the Assignment Instructions (AI\’s). Call emergency services and the Communication Centre to report all incidents.
