IKEA Milton Keynes are looking to welcome a Carpenter to the team. A Carpenter transforms raw wood into the backbone of the showroom—building walls, platforms, and raised floors, and cutting and shaping materials like MDF, plywood, and panels to bring each space to life.

What You’ll Need to Have

  • Qualification in Carpentry NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Wood Occupations/Site Carpentry, or an equivalent qualification (e.g., HND or NVQ in Carpentry)
  • Previous carpentry experience in a commercial or retail environment, preferably retail fit‑out or exhibition installations, with a strong attention to detail; experience in tiling and flooring is desirable but not essential
  • Enthusiasm for home furnishings, design and how people live, with the ability to generate new ideas to inspire customers
  • Proven ability to prioritise and organise workload to meet deadlines and goals efficiently
  • Clear communication skills, able to explain concepts verbally and through visual interpretation
  • Minimum age 18 years old due to health and safety requirements

What You’ll Be Doing Day To Day

  • Follow work briefs agreed with colleagues to implement all store media, such as wall constructions, podiums, fixtures, floor laying, painting and the building of complex furniture installations
  • Plan and order materials and resources, ensuring accurate costs are sought and agreed to maximise efficiency and minimise costs
  • Work with colleagues to keep the store in excellent shape to inspire customers
  • Focus on key tasks to meet the needs and expectations of store visitors and minimise shop floor disruption
  • Maintain safety at all times on the shop floor and take swift action when safety is compromised
