About the Role
In this role, you will support the delivery of the Commercial and Corporate PR strategies through media relations, campaigns and communications projects.
- What you need to have
- +5 years of experience in a busy press office, PR agency, or media-facing role
- A good understanding of media relations and how the news agenda works, and an awareness of emerging communication trends, digital platforms and social media
- A professional approach that combines measured problem-solving with the flexibility to respond effectively in demanding situations
- Effective teamwork across functions with a client-focused approach, demonstrated by building productive relationships and balancing several priorities
- Experience supporting campaign planning and execution, and launches or events
- Experience working with external agencies, influencers, suppliers, or partners
- Effective communication skills in both writing and speaking, plus a keen eye for detail
- Experience using media monitoring and reporting tools
- Ability to monitor, analyse and report on PR performance and campaign results (desirable)
- Interest in home furnishing, retail, or developing memorable brand stories (desirable)
What you will do day to day
- Support the delivery of the Commercial and Corporate PR strategies through media relations, campaigns and communications projects.
- Implement media and stakeholder engagement plans across reactive, proactive and activist communications.
- Work closely with PR agency partners to coordinate the planning and delivery of PR projects, including product launches and purpose‑led campaigns, ensuring they’re delivered on time and to a high standard.
- Manage the PR inbox, responding to media enquiries in a timely and professional manner, working with subject matter experts across the business where required.
- Monitor media coverage daily, identifying emerging issues, trends and opportunities, and share regular updates and insights with stakeholders.
- Assist with responding to issues as they arise and help protect IKEA’s reputation.
- Draft and edit high-quality press materials, including press releases, media statements, briefing documents and Q&A, supporting proactive media outreach and story pitching.
- Track, evaluate and report on media coverage and campaign performance to measure impact and inform future activity.
- Build and maintain good relationships with journalists, media contacts and other external stakeholders.
- Stay up to date with the media landscape, identifying new opportunities to raise IKEA's profile and enhance brand reputation.
- Take part in the out of hours press office rota.
