About the job

To support the Com&In team in securing high quality carpentry and paintwork throughout the store in a simple, safe and cost- and time-effective way. This will contribute to consumers' perception of the IKEA brand and the IKEA retailer as a high‑quality and affordable home furnishing specialist.

Your assignment:

  • Performs carpentry and painting maintenance duties;
  • Building of complex furniture installations, woodwork, fixtures and equipment such as bins, cabinets, cribs, wall construction, counters, benches, partitions, doors, floors, tilting, stairs, casings, and trim made of wood.
  • Planning and laying out of work from blueprints, drawings, models, or verbal instructions, using a variety of carpenter's hand tools, portable power tools and standard measuring instruments.
  • Making standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work; and selecting materials necessary for the work.
  • Painting and redecorating walls and other store areas.
  • Knowledge of surface peculiarities and types of paint required for different applications; preparing surface for painting by removing old finish and applying paint with spray gun or brush.
  • May mix colours, oils, white lead and other paint ingredients to obtain proper colour or consistency.
  • Planning and ordering materials and resources, ensuring accurate costs are sought and agreed in order to maximise efficiency and minimise costs.
  • Be conscious of the importance of safety at all times while working on the shop floor and take fast action when safety is compromised.
  • Working with your colleagues to make sure the store is always in excellent shape.
  • Stay up to date with knowledge about carpentry to increase quality and efficiency.

Your profile:

  • You have at least 3 years relevant experience in carpentry ideally in a commercial business, construction and building industry or exhibition installation.
  • You have general painting, decorating and other trade skills experience.
  • You are confident in approaching and communicating clearly with different people in various situations.
  • Ability to explain ideas and solutions verbally and good attention to detail.
  • Good personal discipline on your responsibility, an ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and meet deadlines.
