NLA is looking for an experienced Account Manager to lead our Architecture Sector, drive sector performance, and manage a diverse portfolio of architecture members. This is a strategic, relationship-led role suited to someone who excels at senior engagement, consultative account management, and building long-term commercial value.
NLA is the membership body for London’s built environment sector. We are looking for an Account Manager to lead NLA’s Architecture Sector, driving sector performance, delivering the strategic sector plan, and overseeing a broad architecture membership portfolio. You will build trusted, long-term relationships at scale, understand member priorities, advise on opportunities across NLA’s programme, and grow revenue across your client base through sponsorships.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the Architecture Sector, developing and delivering a strategic annual plan and reporting regularly on sector performance.
- Oversee a broad architecture membership portfolio, proactively managing a defined group of strategic accounts to ensure they receive maximum value from their membership and remain highly engaged across all NLA activities.
- Develop tailored, consultative account plans for high-value clients that reflect their priorities and identify opportunities to deepen engagement and grow commercial value over time.
- Build and maintain strong senior-level relationships across member organisations, expanding connections with Directors and key decision makers.
- Use strong communication skills to articulate NLA’s value proposition and present opportunities clearly and persuasively.
- Maintain accurate client records and engagement data on HubSpot and the NLA’s Digital Platform, including a detailed pipeline for renewals and sponsorship opportunities.
- Act as the internal advocate for the Architecture Sector, sharing insights from your portfolio and identifying opportunities to profile and engage key members across the NLA network.
- Attend NLA, client and wider industry events to stay close to members, gather market intelligence, and identify opportunities to increase spend.
- Advanced consultative account management skills, with experience managing large client portfolios and developing strategic, long-term relationships with high-value clients.
- Proven ability to grow revenue across an existing client base, including experience with renewals, upselling and sponsorships.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
- Strong commercial awareness and experience generating revenue through sponsorships, partnerships or similar channels.
- Ability to synthesise sector insights and translate them into strategic planning and actionable recommendations.
- Highly organised, with strong attention to detail and proficiency in managing CRM systems (HubSpot preferred) including pipeline management and forecasting.
- Confident networker who can represent NLA in external settings and build credibility quickly.
- Strong, senior-level relationships established and maintained across your portfolio.
- Architecture Sector strategic plan delivered, with quarterly OKR reporting against progress.
- 90% net membership revenue retention across your portfolio.
- 20% increase in programme sponsorship generated within the sector.
- Informed: Meet regularly with members to understand their priorities and sector challenges. Maintain strong knowledge of the Architecture sector, including key drivers and trends. Stay informed by attending NLA, member and wider industry events. Keep up to date with NLA’s Programme to share relevant opportunities.
- Rigorous: Build strong relationships through consistent, well-structured member meetings. Share insights from member conversations with relevant internal teams. Ensure member and sponsor commitments are delivered. Keep HubSpot and the Digital Platform accurate and current. Maintain clear, up-to-date pipelines for additional business.
- Collaborative: Work closely with colleagues across NLA to deliver value for members. Build open, trusted relationships with clients. Identify new ways to collaborate and support member objectives.
- Responsive: Act quickly and thoughtfully to member needs and opportunities. Support colleagues when required. Keep clients proactively informed and resolve issues efficiently.
- Location: NLA office at The London Centre. Hybrid work option, minimum 3 days in the office.
- Work Pattern: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
- Market Competitive Salary: Dependent on skills and experience.
