We are looking for a Director of Facilities and Engineering to join us in a cluster role between Kimpton Blythswood Square Hotel & Spa and voco Grand Central Hotel. At Kimpton Blythswood Square Hotel & Spa we want to deliver a ridiculously personal service to all our guests, whether they are relaxing in our Spa or enjoying sustainably sourced Scottish seafood in our iasg restaurant. Our locally curated voco Grand Central stands strong in Glasgow’s city centre, bringing together un-stuffy service and a warm Glasgow welcome to our business and leisure guests alike.

As Director of Facilities, you’ll be a key leader within the cluster, working in close partnership with the General Manager and senior leadership team to oversee the safety, integrity and long-term performance of our buildings and infrastructure. You’ll lead the Facilities and Maintenance teams across both hotels, collaborating closely with Operations, Finance, HR and Commercial to ensure our properties operate safely, efficiently and in line with brand standards. From preventative maintenance and compliance to capital planning and project delivery, you’ll balance operational excellence with strategic foresight protecting our assets while enabling brilliant guest and colleague experiences.

A visible and credible presence, you’ll coach and develop the Facilities Manager and wider team, build strong cross-department relationships and confidently lead through major incidents and change ensuring safety, service continuity and performance remain uncompromised. You will also champion continuous improvement, strengthen contractor partnerships and help future-proof our iconic hotels through robust five-year capital planning and disciplined financial management.

We’re looking for a strategic and hands-on leader who brings expertise, credibility and pride in their work, with:

  • Proven experience as a Director of Facilities, Head of Engineering or equivalent within a hotel, hospitality or complex multi-site environment
  • Strong leadership experience developing high-performing maintenance teams, driving performance and succession planning aligned to brand standards
  • Commercial and financial acumen, with experience managing cluster budgets, forecasting, CAPEX planning and contractor negotiations
  • Expertise in preventative and planned maintenance programmes, optimising building management systems and protecting long-term infrastructure
  • A strong track record in health, safety and statutory compliance, leading audits, risk assessments and ongoing compliance monitoring
  • Experience delivering capital projects and multi-year asset plans, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time and within budget
  • A visible, solutions-focused leadership style, someone who leads by example, collaborates effectively and takes genuine pride in maintaining exceptional standards behind the scenes.

So, we are looking for someone who has…

  • Availability to work a typically Monday to Friday pattern across both hotels, with the flexibility to respond to operational needs, emergencies and support the team when required
  • Proven experience as a Head of Engineering, Facilities Manager or Senior Maintenance Manager within a hotel environment (essential), with experience working within older or listed buildings highly desirable
  • Experience managing multi-site or cluster operations, with the ability to prioritise effectively across multiple properties
  • Strong financial and commercial acumen, including managing operational budgets, forecasting and CAPEX planning
  • Excellent organisational and administrative capability, with confidence using IT systems, reporting tools and maintenance management platforms
  • Extensive hands-on technical knowledge across hotel maintenance disciplines, including M&E systems, fabric maintenance, plumbing, electrical and finishing works
  • Proven experience implementing and managing Preventative Maintenance programmes to protect long-term assets and support operational efficiency
  • Familiarity with hotel systems that support operational processes, such as service optimisation tools (for example Unifocus, Hotsos or Knowcross) and Building Management Systems
  • Relevant technical qualifications, with IOSH highly desirable and NEBOSH advantageous
  • A proven record of taking initiative, leading teams and driving high standards, with a practical, solutions-focused approach.

In return for joining the Glasgow Cluster team, we can offer you…

  • Competitive Salary, plus a 20% performance bonus
  • Pension, Life Insurance and Private Healthcare
