Become a senior technical anchor for Festina Finance’s UK Life & Pension platform
This is an opportunity to become one of the key senior technical profiles in the UK organisation and help shape how Festina Finance’s Life & Pensions platform is adapted, architected and scaled for the UK market.
You will work closely with senior product, architecture and engineering colleagues in Denmark, while staying close to the UK business, customers and market requirements. The role combines hands‑on engineering with system design, architectural decision-making and technical leadership.
As a Senior Software Engineer / Technical Lead in Festina Life, you will play a central role in defining how the platform evolves for the UK market. You will help translate complex regulatory, business and customer requirements into robust technical solutions while protecting the integrity and long‑term maintainability of the core platform.
This is not a traditional people‑management role. You will remain close to the code and the platform, while taking broader responsibility for technical direction, design decisions, engineering quality and architectural alignment.
As the UK engineering capability grows, you will naturally become a senior technical reference point for developers, business specialists and stakeholders across the UK and Denmark.

What you will work on
- Shaping the technical evolution of Festina’s Life & Pensions platform for the UK market
- Translating complex UK business and regulatory requirements into scalable technical solutions
- Contributing to system design and architectural decisions across services, APIs and integrations
- Implementing pensions‑specific business logic within a long‑lived enterprise platform
- Designing and building REST APIs and integrations with surrounding enterprise systems
- Supporting technical decisions around maintainability, scalability, data quality and production robustness
- Contributing to automated testing, performance and engineering quality
- Reviewing technical approaches and helping establish strong engineering practices as the UK team grows
- Working closely with product and architecture teams to balance UK‑specific requirements with the integrity of the core platform
What we are looking for
- Strong senior‑level backend engineering experience in Java, C# or comparable technologies
- Experience designing and delivering complex enterprise or distributed software systems
- Strong understanding of APIs, integrations, business‑critical backend services and production software
- Ability to reason beyond implementation and contribute to architecture, system design and technical trade‑offs
- Experience taking technical ownership across larger solutions, components or platforms
- Ideally experience from pensions, insurance, banking, financial services or another regulated software environment
- Ability to work confidently with both senior technical stakeholders and business/domain specialists
- Experience acting as a Technical Lead, Architect, Principal‑level engineer or senior technical reference point is highly relevant
- Motivation to remain hands‑on while taking broader responsibility for technical direction
- A Computer Science degree or equivalent technical foundation is preferred
Location and setup
Our UK office is located in Manchester City Centre and will be your primary workplace.
Close collaboration and knowledge sharing are an important part of the role. You will also have the option to work from home on agreed days, coordinated directly with the team.
Occasional travel to Copenhagen should be expected, particularly to deepen product knowledge and maintain close collaboration with Festina’s product, architecture and engineering teams.
