Manual Lathe Operator / Vertical Borer Department: Manual Machine Shop Employment Type: Full-Time (13 week Temp to Perm) Reports To: Machine Shop Supervisor Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and experienced Manual Lathe Operator / Vertical Borer to join our precision manual machine shop. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing high-quality flanges from a variety of materials, working to a tolerance of ±1mm. This role requires proficiency in operating manual lathes and vertical borers, as well as a solid understanding of using all types of measuring equipment to ensure precision and quality. Key Responsibilities: * Operate manual lathes and vertical boring machines to produce flanges according to technical drawings and specifications. * Work with a variety of materials * Machine components to a tolerance of ±1mm. * Interpret technical drawings and accurately translate them into finished components. * Perform quality checks using all necessary measuring equipment, including micrometers, calipers, and gauges. * Maintain and care for the machines, ensuring optimal operation and cleanliness. * Adhere to company health and safety policies and procedures at all times. * Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production deadlines and quality standards. Qualifications and Skills: Essential: * Proven experience in operating manual lathes and/or vertical borers. * Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings. * Proficiency in using a range of measuring equipment to check tolerances and dimensions. * Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work. * Solid understanding of machining processes and materials. * Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
