Nurse Functional Assessor role based in Hitchin. Salary £47,000 plus bonus. Monday to Friday, office hours with a hybrid working model combining home‑based working and attendance at a local assessment centre.
We are recruiting registered Nurses (RGN, RMN and RNLD) to work as Functional Assessors delivering Personal Independence Payment (PIP) services.
This role offers an alternative to hands‑on clinical work. The focus is on assessing how health conditions impact daily living and producing clear, evidence‑based reports.
Salary: £47,000 per year plus bonus
Working pattern: Full-time or part-time, Monday to Friday, office hours
Hybrid working: Combination of home working and office‑based assessments
Right to work in the UK required (sponsorship not available)
Training
All roles require completion of a full‑time training programme. This is a minimum of 9 weeks but may be longer depending on individual progress or any periods of absence.
The role
You will carry out structured Personal Independence Payment (PIP) assessments, focusing on how an individual’s health conditions affect their daily living activities.
Assessments are completed via:
Telephone
Face-to-face appointments (non‑clinical setting)
All appointments are pre‑booked and follow a structured format.
Responsibilities
Carry out structured assessments using clinical judgement
Review medical evidence and supporting documentation
Communicate professionally and sensitively throughout
This role does not involve
Providing hands‑on clinical care
Diagnosing conditions
Prescribing or delivering treatment
Making decisions on benefit entitlement
Working nights, weekends or shifts
