The Paid Advertising Lead is a crucial role within our growing digital marketing team. We’re seeking a true technical expert with strong experience developing strategic and creative campaigns across multiple channels. The Paid Advertising Lead will have plenty of hands-on experience in planning and executing paid strategies, with a special focus on Google & Meta Ads. The successful applicant will be expected to lean on their experience to independently drive success for key clients, contribute to core strategic frameworks to develop the service, and provide technical support & mentorship to junior team members. This role is perfect for someone with at least 3 years of agency experience managing key accounts - or 5 years of relevant industry experience - who is excited to help shape and optimise advanced paid advertising campaigns across multiple channels.

Key responsibilities

  • Paid Advertising Expert: Stay ahead of emerging industry trends, advertising tools, and platform updates (primarily Google & Meta, but also others). Apply this expertise to develop strategies that align with broader marketing goals, driving brand visibility, conversions, and revenue growth.
  • Paid Advertising Campaign Implementation: Leading and supporting others in setting up and optimising paid campaigns on platforms like Google & Meta. Execute tasks independently such as campaign creation, audience targeting, ad copy creation, ad creative briefing and bid management ensuring ongoing improvements in results.
  • Funnel Targeting: Be responsible for identifying the most optimal funnel area for targeting which seamlessly aligns with a clients overall marketing strategy and thus, wider channel initiatives. Nurture audiences to an expert level irrespective of whether it is top, middle, and bottom-of-funnel campaigns. Your campaign and strategic creative approach will reflect this approach.
  • Independent Initiative: Take full ownership of non-core or specialised tasks (e.g., campaign expansions, audits etc). Demonstrate problem-solving skills by proactively identifying issues and implementing solutions, whilst ensuring these marry up with broader marketing goals.
  • Auditing: Conduct in-depth audits of new and existing campaigns, both internally and for clients, identifying areas for improvement. Communicate audit findings to the Paid Advertising Manager or the Client Services team, offering actionable insights and strategic recommendations.
  • Team Support & Development: Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to junior members within the paid advertising team. Share best practices, coordinate with key stakeholders, and contribute to a culture of learning and innovation.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with the design team and external creative partners to develop compelling creative strategies to be implemented consistently across multiple channels.
  • Framework Compliance and Enhancement: Help implement and maintain our internal frameworks (e.g., “CALLISTO” and its parent “JUPITER”), ensuring all paid advertising activities align with the broader marketing strategy. Proactively suggest improvements to enhance legacy frameworks and ensure consistent application across all campaigns.
  • Client Comms Support: Communicate effectively with the Client Services team to provide updates on campaign performance, deliver insights, and offer strategic recommendations.
  • Opportunity Identification: Identify and share potential upsell or cross-sell opportunities with senior team members.
  • Tracking & Reporting: Setup, review and monitor conversion tracking to ensure insightful reporting of key metrics to clients. Evaluate multiple reporting dashboards with broader commercial awareness to measure success outside of just the advertising platforms.

Key skills and experience required

  • A minimum of 3 years agency experience managing key accounts, or 5 in house.
  • Ability to develop and execute multi-channel paid media strategies aligned with wider marketing and revenue goals.
  • Strong technical experience for both Google & Meta Ads. Experience with other advertising platforms (TikTok, Reddit, Pinterest, etc) is advantageous.
  • Strong full-funnel advertising knowledge (awareness, consideration, conversion) with audience nurturing expertise.
  • Proficiency in conversion tracking, analytics, reporting dashboards, and commercially focused performance analysis.
  • Experience conducting in-depth campaign audits and delivering actionable strategic recommendations.
  • Proven ability to independently manage and grow key client accounts with proactive problem-solving.
  • Capability to mentor and support junior team members while contributing to team development.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration and communication skills with creative, design, and client services teams.
