We are seeking a Senior EC&I Engineer to support a major programme delivering design and asset care within a complex, safety-critical environment. This role sits within a multi-disciplinary design function responsible for both new project delivery and ongoing operational asset support, ensuring engineering solutions are safe, compliant, and fit for purpose across the asset lifecycle. You will play a key role in the delivery of EC&I design work, supporting technical outputs, ensuring quality standards are met, and collaborating closely with internal teams and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver EC&I engineering activities across design and asset support scopes
- Produce and check engineering deliverables, including: Specifications, calculations, and technical reports; Control system design packages; Functional safety documentation (e.g. SRS, SIL inputs)
- Ensure compliance with relevant nuclear industry codes, standards, and regulatory requirements
- Support safety case activities including HAZOP, HAZID, and design substantiation
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams including mechanical, process, and safety functions
- Interface with stakeholders across engineering, project delivery, and operations
- Support planning and delivery of engineering work packages
- Provide guidance and support to junior engineers where required
Requirements
- Degree qualified (or equivalent) in Electrical, Control & Instrumentation, or related engineering discipline
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or working towards chartership (highly desirable)
- Experience within a highly regulated industry (nuclear strongly preferred)
- Strong awareness of nuclear engineering codes, standards, and compliance frameworks
- Proven experience delivering EC&I design within safety-critical environments
- Experience producing high-quality engineering documentation
- Good understanding of: Control and instrumentation systems; Functional safety standards (e.g. IEC 61508 / IEC 61511); Design processes within regulated environments
- Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team
Desirable Experience
- Experience supporting operational asset care / plant support environments
- Exposure to design office or framework-based delivery models
- Experience with PLC, SCADA, or DCS systems
- Familiarity with legacy systems and infrastructure upgrades
