About the Company:

We are a growing recruitment agency specialising in the supply of temporary and permanent candidates across the Sales, Legal and Construction sectors. Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced and commercially focused Finance Manager to oversee the day-to-day finance function and support the leadership team with strategic financial management.

Role Overview:

The Finance Manager will take ownership of the company's finance operations, ensuring accurate reporting, strong financial controls and effective cashflow management. The role requires experience within recruitment, staffing, or a fast-paced service-led environment, particularly with temp payroll and contractor management. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who can operate both strategically and operationally within a growing SME business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the day-to-day finance function across the business
  • Produce monthly management accounts and financial reports
  • Monitor cashflow, forecasting and budgeting
  • Manage bank reconciliations and financial controls
  • Oversee purchase ledger, sales ledger and credit control functions
  • Ensure accurate VAT returns and statutory compliance
  • Oversee temporary worker payroll processes
  • Manage contractor payments and invoicing cycles
  • Ensure compliance with recruitment finance legislation and HMRC requirements
  • Monitor client billing, margins and profitability across divisions
  • Partner with directors to support business growth and financial planning
  • Provide commercial analysis and performance reporting
  • Identify opportunities for cost efficiencies and process improvements
  • Support with audits, year-end accounts and liaison with external accountants
  • Manage and improve finance systems and reporting processes
  • Support and develop junior finance/admin staff where required
  • Maintain accurate financial records and documentation

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Proven experience in a Finance Manager or Senior Finance role
  • Previous experience within recruitment, staffing or professional services and group entities preferred
  • Strong understanding of temporary payroll and contractor finance processes
  • Excellent knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting
  • Experience using finance/accounting software and Excel
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with senior stakeholders

Qualifications:

  • AAT qualified, ACCA/CIMA part-qualified or qualified preferred
  • Relevant finance or accounting qualification desirable
