The Opportunity

We are working with a well-established and growing main contractor that is expanding its North East operation and is looking to appoint a Document Controller to join their regional office. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Document Controller, or a construction administrator looking to develop their career within Document Control. The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting project and commercial teams, ensuring project documentation is accurately managed, distributed, recorded and maintained throughout live construction projects.

The Role

Working as part of the regional office team, you will provide effective Document Control support across the business, working closely with Project Managers, Site Teams, Commercial Teams and the wider construction function. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the receipt, registration, distribution and tracking of project documentation
  • Maintaining accurate document registers and electronic filing systems
  • Uploading, issuing and controlling drawings, specifications, reports and project documentation
  • Monitoring document revisions and ensuring the latest information is issued to relevant teams
  • Managing incoming and outgoing project correspondence
  • Coordinating information between internal teams, subcontractors, consultants and clients
  • Maintaining accurate project records and audit trails
  • Supporting project teams with document queries and information requests
  • Ensuring company Document Control procedures and processes are followed
  • Providing general project administration support where required

About You

We are looking for someone who is organised, methodical and highly detail-oriented, with previous experience in Document Control, Project Administration or a construction-related administrative role. The ideal candidate will understand the importance of accurate document management within a construction environment and be comfortable managing multiple priorities. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous experience in Document Control, Project Administration or construction administration
  • Experience working within a construction, engineering or contractor environment
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Office and Excel
  • Experience maintaining document registers and filing systems
  • Strong communication skills and a professional approach
  • The ability to manage multiple deadlines and competing priorities
  • A proactive, methodical and team-focused attitude
  • Previous experience with construction document management systems such as Viewpoint, Asite, 4Projects, Aconex or Procore would be advantageous
