We are seeking a skilled and reliable HIU Engineer to join an established social housing contractor in Folkestone. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, servicing, maintenance, and fault-finding of Heat Interface Units (HIUs) within residential and commercial properties, primarily connected to district heating systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, commission, and replace HIUs in domestic and commercial settings
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on HIU systems
- Diagnose faults and carry out repairs efficiently
- Perform system flushing, balancing, and performance testing
- Ensure all work complies with relevant health & safety regulations and industry standards
- Complete job reports, service records, and documentation accurately
- Liaise with clients, tenants, and property managers professionally
- Support wider heating and plumbing works where required
Requirements
Essential
- Proven experience working with Heat Interface Units (HIUs) or district heating systems
- Strong background in plumbing and heating engineering
- Relevant qualifications (e.g. NVQ Level 2/3 in Plumbing & Heating or equivalent)
- Good understanding of fault diagnosis and system controls
- Full UK driving licence
- Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
Desirable
- Experience with communal/district heating networks
- Electrical knowledge (basic wiring, controls, testing)
- Unvented hot water certification (e.g. G3)
- Experience with manufacturers such as Danfoss, Heatmiser, or SAV Systems
