Are you a Mechanical Building Services Design Engineer ready to take the technical lead on high‑quality residential developments? This is an exciting opportunity to join a leading, family‑run building services and construction contractor renowned for delivering sustainable, design‑led housing schemes across London and the South East.
The Role
- You’ll lead the mechanical design delivery on two new‑build residential developments (106 and 72 units) progressing through RIBA Stages 3–4.
- Working closely with internal design teams, architects, and external consultants, you will be responsible for producing efficient, compliant and buildable mechanical solutions.
Key responsibilities
- Taking ownership of the full mechanical design package from concept to detailed design.
- Producing and reviewing technical drawings, specifications and coordinated layouts.
- Ensuring compliance with CIBSE standards and Building Regulations.
- Developing low‑carbon strategies, including communal ASHP systems in line with CIBSE CP1.
- Supporting design coordination and buildability reviews with construction teams.
- Providing technical leadership and mentoring within the design function.
About you
- Degree or HNC/HND in Building Services or Mechanical Engineering.
- Extensive experience in mechanical design for residential or mixed‑use developments – essential.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, ASHP systems, CIBSE CP1 and modern low‑carbon technologies.
- Excellent coordination, communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Confidence producing detailed technical information and design deliverables.
