The Role
We are looking for an experienced HGV Technician to join our workshop team on a permanent late shift. You will be responsible for servicing, maintaining and repairing a mixed fleet of heavy and light commercial vehicles, ensuring all vehicles are safe, compliant and roadworthy. This is a hands-on role suited to a technician confident in diagnostics, EV systems and general mechanical repairs.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out servicing, inspections and repairs to HGV and light commercial vehicles
- Diagnose faults using industry diagnostic systems (Texa, Jaltest & Snap-on)
- Complete MOT preparation work to DVSA standards
- Work on electric and hybrid vehicles safely (high-voltage systems)
- Carry out mechanical, electrical and hydraulic repairs
- Perform fabrication and welding repairs where required
- Ensure all work is completed efficiently and to high safety standards
- Accurately record job details and completed work
Essential Requirements
- NVQ / IMI Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance (or Light Vehicle equivalent)
- Proven EV / Hybrid vehicle experience
- IMI qualification in Electric / Hybrid vehicles
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
- Ability to work independently on a late shift
Desirable
- MOT Qualification
- Welding certification or fabrication experience
- HGV licence (Class 1 or 2)
- Experience within a fleet or municipal workshop
