Commercial Manager
A leading M&E/FMcontractor is seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to work closely with the Commercial Director, overseeing cost control, risk management, and commercial performance across key projects. The role is vital to driving profitability, compliance, and the development of a high-performing commercial team.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Liaise with clients and third parties on commercial matters, including agreement of additional monies.

  2. Oversee project cost and value management, ensuring robust procedures are in place.

  3. Produce and interpret accurate project financial reports.

  4. Identify, record, and recover changes outside company liability.

  5. Lead project risk and opportunity management.

  6. Manage and develop the commercial team to meet performance goals.

  7. Prepare detailed cost plans for complex M&E projects.

  8. Analyze cost data to support informed decision-making.

  9. Prepare and monitor long-term cash flow forecasts.

  10. Align commercial strategy with wider business objectives.

  11. Improve and maintain effective change management procedures.

  12. Draft key clauses in sub-contractor and consultant agreements.

  13. Lead commercial negotiations and tender presentations.

  14. Conduct thorough commercial handovers from estimating to delivery.

  15. Ensure contract terms are understood and implemented by the project team.

  16. Manage procurement and negotiation of sub-contracts.

  17. Monitor subcontractor payments to ensure contractual compliance.

  18. Maintain and update a live Risk Register.

  19. Set up and oversee project commercial reporting (CVRs, P&L, cashflow, etc.).

  20. Prepare and submit claims for loss, expense, and disruption.

  21. Ensure variations are properly valued, documented, and submitted.

  22. Submit timely and accurate valuations, covering all project entitlements.

  23. Track payments, certifications, and manage retention release.

  24. Control project costs using internal systems (e.g., Navision).

  25. Submit and agree final accounts promptly upon completion.
