About Ignite Hubs

Ignite Hubs is an education charity for children and young people aged 7 to 18 years old. Our mission is to ignite the potential of young minds by widening their horizons and providing them with the skills, connections and experiences to access career-related learning opportunities and prepare them for the future workforce. We currently teach coding and STEM.

We aim to provide the best learning environment for children and young people from all backgrounds and abilities. We place a special emphasis on engaging underrepresented groups, including girls, children with special educational needs, and those from disadvantaged backgrounds. By doing so, we actively work towards narrowing the representation gap in the technology and STEM sectors.

We teach nearly 200 students each week and have positively impacted more than 1,000 children and young people since we started. Our educational offerings include four weekly virtual classes and five weekly in-person classes during term time at various libraries throughout Southwark, SE London.

Our long-term ambition is to offer nationwide classes, workshops and events to children and young people on a wide variety of subjects under our five educational Hubs: Code, STEM, Innovation & Enterprise, Creativity and Health & Wellbeing.

Role & Responsibilities

We have exciting plans to launch a Science programme under our STEM Hub, starting in September 2025. We are looking for passionate and friendly Science Instructors to deliver onsite Science classes and create engaging content for our Online Learning Platform.

We are looking to launch the programme in September 2025. Our onsite classes typically run from 6:15pm to 7:15pm on a weekday and 11am to 12pm on Saturdays during term-time only. For the pivot launch, we are considering either Canada Water Library, Camberwell Library or Una Marson Library, all based in Southwark, London. We can agree on the venue of the classes to match your availability. Our terms are 8 weeks long, with a break of at least two weeks in the middle, longer for Easter and Summer holidays. You are required to be onsite 15-20 minutes before the class starts to get ready and stay on for 10-15 minutes after to pack-up.

There are additional hours available for contributing to curriculum development, creating educational resources and content creation for our Online Learning Platform, which we are currently designing and building.
