About Ignite Hubs
Ignite Hubs is an award-winning education charity for children and young people. We inspire the next generation of STEM trailblazers, creative thinkers, and digital whizzes. We target girls, those from disadvantaged backgrounds and ethnic minority backgrounds, as they are hugely underrepresented in the tech, STEM and creative industries. Our vision is a future where technology and innovation are shaped by diverse minds, truly reflecting the world we live in. We currently teach coding, STEM, Maths and Creativity to over 200 students each week and have positively impacted more than 1,000 children and young people since we started.
Role
We are looking for a passionate and creative Maths Instructor to join our Maths team. You will work with small class sizes, allowing you to provide more support and encouragement to learners. The average age of our students is 11 to 14 years old. This role is ideal for someone who wants to help children and young people, particularly those who feel anxious, excluded, or lack confidence, develop a more positive relationship with maths. You will support the design and delivery of a maths programme, aimed at secondary school age, that is engaging, accessible, and connected to real-world applications.
Teaching Schedule
- Classes usually run on Mondays and Wednesdays, 5:00–6:00pm during term time
- We are currently looking for someone available on Wednesdays, 5:00–6:00pm
- Depending on instructor availability, classes next term (Summer Term) could run on another evening (not Fridays or weekends) at a later time, 6:00–7:00pm.
- Our terms run for 8 weeks, with at least a 2-week break between terms (longer breaks over Easter and Summer)
- Instructors are expected to arrive 5 minutes before class and stay 5–10 minutes after class for student questions or support.
- There are additional hours available for curriculum development, creating learning resources and developing content for our Online Learning Platform.
Key Responsibilities
- Create resources and activities that illustrate real-world applications of maths.
- Develop lesson plans and materials to support students’ learning.
- Monitor students’ progress and provide feedback and support as needed.
- Collaborate with other instructors and staff to enhance the overall learning experience.
- Create resources, projects and content for our Online Learning Platform.
What we are looking for
- Passionate about maths and strong maths skills.
- Familiarity with the GCSE Maths national curriculum (desirable)
- Previous teaching or tutoring experience (desirable)
- Ability to engage with children and young people
- Self-motivated, organised and proactive.
Other Information
We will carry out an Enhanced DBS check and ask for two references.
