About Ignite Hubs:

Ignite Hubs is an award-winning education charity for children and young people. We inspire the next generation of STEM trailblazers, creative thinkers, and digital whizzes. We target girls, those from disadvantaged backgrounds and ethnic minority backgrounds, as they are hugely underrepresented in the tech, STEM and creative industries. Our vision is a future where technology and innovation are shaped by diverse minds, truly reflecting the world we live in. We currently teach coding, STEM, Maths and Creativity to over 200 students each week and have positively impacted more than 1,000 children and young people since we started.

About the Course: Content Creators – Story & Design

Young people today need strong digital literacy, storytelling, and visual communication skills to access careers in the creative and media sectors, including journalism, design, marketing, and digital content creation. Creativity is a powerful tool for self-expression and advocacy, particularly for young people whose voices are often underrepresented. This course provides a supportive space for learners to explore their lived experiences, engage with social and civic issues, and develop confidence in sharing their ideas.

We will deliver a free onsite course at John Harvard Library, London SE1 1JA, for around 15 to 20 students aged 11 to 18, launching in the Summer Term (22 April to 1 July 2026). Depending on interest, it will continue in the Autumn Term (from September 2026).

The Role:

We are looking for a Graphic Design Instructor to co-design the course with our other instructors in content creation and digital illustrations/Artist. Instructors will work collaboratively to design and deliver engaging, hands-on sessions that guide students through storytelling, writing, design, and digital content creation. This is an ideal role for creative professionals who are passionate about youth development, inclusive education, and amplifying young voices.

What You’ll Deliver:

  • Storytelling and narrative development
  • Article and blog writing
  • Visual communication and graphic design
  • Campaign messaging and audience awareness
  • Zine creation and creative publishing

The course will culminate in two tangible outcomes:

  • A student-designed zine showcasing original writing and visual work
  • Digital content (e.g. graphics, articles, blog posts, social media content) co-created by students and published via Ignite Hubs’ website and, where appropriate, our social media platforms

Key Responsibilities:

  • Co-design and plan the full 8-week course curriculum prior to launch
  • Prepare lesson plans, activities, and learning materials
  • Deliver engaging onsite sessions to young people aged 11 to 18
  • Encourage participation and collaboration
  • Work collaboratively with the co-instructor and Ignite Hubs team

What We’re Looking For:

Essential:

  • Experience in graphic design or visual communication
  • Confidence using design tools (e.g. Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar)
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to engage and inspire young people

Desirable:

  • Experience working with young people (formal or informal settings)
  • Experience teaching, mentoring, or facilitating workshops

Why Join Ignite Hubs?

  • Join an innovative, mission-driven organisation transforming lives through education.
  • Work on exciting projects that support your professional growth and skills development.
  • Help young people build confidence, portfolios, and pathways into creative careers.

How to Apply:

To apply, please send your CV and a cover letter. Please include answers to the two questions below:

  • Why are you passionate about educating young people?
  • What do you bring to this role that would make it a success?
