About Ignite Hubs
Ignite Hubs is an education charity for children and young people aged 7 to 18 years old. Our mission is to ignite the potential of young minds by widening their horizons and providing them with the skills, connections and experiences to access career-related learning opportunities and prepare them for the future workforce. We currently teach coding and STEM.
We aim to provide the best learning environment for children and young people from all backgrounds and abilities. We place a special emphasis on engaging underrepresented groups, including girls, children with special educational needs, and those from disadvantaged backgrounds. By doing so, we actively work towards narrowing the representation gap in the technology and STEM sectors.
Role & Responsibilities
We have exciting plans to launch an Engineering programme under our STEM Hub, starting in September 2025. We are looking for passionate and friendly Engineering Instructors to deliver onsite classes and create engaging content for our Online Learning Platform.
You will deliver high-quality, hands-on engineering classes to children and young people, inspiring curiosity and a love for engineering. You will also create content for our Online Learning Platform, ensuring our resources are accessible, engaging, and aligned with our educational goals.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching and Facilitation
- Deliver fun, interactive, and educational engineering classes to children and young people.
- Plan and prepare lesson materials, ensuring they are age-appropriate, inclusive, and aligned with the STEM Hub’s objectives.
Content Creation
- Create engaging and high-quality science content for Ignite Hubs’ Online Learning Platform working with our Learning Designers.
- Create lesson plans, homework, projects and other resources to support online learning.
About You
- A passion for improving the lives of children and young people through education.
- A strong background in engineering (mechanical, chemical, civil, electrical etc.) with relevant qualifications or experience.
- Knowledge of hands-on, practical engineering activities suitable for children and young people (desirable).
- Experience teaching or working with children and young people, particularly in an educational or informal community setting (desirable).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire young learners.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to plan and deliver structured lessons.
