About Ignite Hubs

Ignite Hubs is an education charity for children and young people aged 7 to 18 years old. Our mission is to ignite the potential of young minds by widening their horizons and providing them with the skills, connections and experiences to access career-related learning opportunities and prepare them for the future workforce. We currently teach coding and STEM.

We aim to provide the best learning environment for children and young people from all backgrounds and abilities. We place a special emphasis on engaging underrepresented groups, including girls, children with special educational needs, and those from disadvantaged backgrounds. By doing so, we actively work towards narrowing the representation gap in the technology and STEM sectors.

We teach nearly 200 students each week and have positively impacted more than 1,000 children and young people since we started. Our educational offerings include four weekly virtual classes and five weekly in-person classes during term time at various libraries throughout Southwark, SE London.

Our long-term ambition is to offer nationwide classes, workshops and events to children and young people on a wide variety of subjects under our five educational Hubs: Code, STEM, Innovation & Enterprise, Creativity and Health & Wellbeing.

Role & Responsibilities

We are looking to create Design and Technology resources for our Online Learning Platform to launch in September 2025. We are looking for a passionate and knowledgeable Design and Technology Instructor with expertise in the UK National Curriculum for GCSE Design and Technology to create high-quality content and resources to support students preparing for this GCSE.

You will create engaging, curriculum-aligned content and resources for Ignite Hubs’ Online Learning Platform. Your work will help students develop a strong understanding of GCSE Design and Technology topics, build confidence, and achieve their academic goals.

You will work with our 3D Technology Instructors, who deliver onsite 3D design and technology classes at Una Marson Library, Southwark, London, to integrate practical, hands-on learning experiences into our online resources.

You may also collaborate with our instructors who teach remote coding classes covering Scratch, HTML/CSS, Python, and Roblox. Our onsite classes cover hardware such as Arduino, Raspberry Pi, Lego for Education and Micro:bit.

Key Responsibilities

Content Creation

  • Develop high-quality, engaging resources for GCSE Design and Technology, aligned with the UK National Curriculum. You will work closely with our Learning Designers.
  • Work with our instructors to create video tutorials, lesson plans, worksheets, and interactive activities to support student learning.
  • Design coding challenges, quizzes, and practice exams to reinforce key concepts and prepare students for assessments.
  • Ensure all content is accessible, easy to follow, and tailored to the needs of GCSE students.

Collaboration with 3D Technology Instructors

  • Work closely with our onsite 3D Technology Instructors to align online content with practical, hands-on learning experiences.
  • Integrate 3D design and technology projects into online resources, ensuring students can apply theoretical knowledge to real-world tasks.
  • Collaborate with them to develop joint projects that combine online learning with onsite activities at Una Marson Library.

Curriculum Alignment

  • Ensure all resources cover the key topics outlined in the GCSE Design and Technology curriculum.
  • Incorporate practical design tasks and real-world examples to make concepts relatable and engaging.

Student Support

  • Create materials to help students with revision, exam techniques, and time management.
