We are looking for a 3D Design & Technology Instructor to support children and young people to explore 3D design, technology and making through fun, practical projects.

We work particularly with girls, those from disadvantaged backgrounds, and those from underrepresented backgrounds in STEM. Your contribution directly supports educational equity and helps young people develop skills critical to future learning and opportunities.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for someone who is creative, practical and enthusiastic about sharing their skills with young people.
You should have
- Knowledge or experience of 3D design, product design, design technology, engineering, CAD, 3D modelling or a related area
- Experience using 3D design or modelling software
- An interest in designing, making and creating
- The ability to explain technical and creative concepts clearly and engagingly
- A friendly, patient and encouraging approach
- Good communication skills
- Reliability and commitment
You do not need a formal teaching qualification or previous tutoring experience to be an instructor with us.
What will you be doing?
Students learn through hands-on, project-based activities, exploring the process of taking an idea from initial concept through to design and creation. They are encouraged to experiment, solve problems, develop their creativity and work at a level and pace that suits them.
As an instructor, you will
- Support students with 3D design and technology projects
- Help students develop ideas and turn them into practical designs
- Introduce students to 3D design tools and technologies
- Explain design and technical concepts in a simple and engaging way
- Encourage creativity, experimentation and problem-solving
- Help students develop confidence in using digital tools and technology
- Work collaboratively with other instructors and volunteers in the classroom
The average age of our students is around 11 years old. You do not need to be an expert in every aspect of 3D design and technology. Our instructors work together as a team and bring different skills and experiences.
The class forms part of our in-person STEM programme and takes place at Una Marson Library in Southwark on Saturdays from 11am to 12pm during term time.
